Guest Blogging
-
Hello WordPress! I am pretty new here…from Blogger, and I love what I’ve seen. I have a suggestion. I’ve noticed that bloggers feature guests from time-to-time, and I was asked by another blogger to guest for them in the future. I have not discovered a way to do this without emailing the piece or some other similar method.
I’d like to suggest a snazzy little feature that I think most of us would love.
Let’s call it “guest sequencing.” Say Elliott, soon going on vacation, asks me to write a guest entry for him. Since it’s now easy to do on WordPress, Elliott goes to his dashboard “Posts” tab where he finds the ‘Guest Post’ button. It is formulated to allow him to enter my blog address or email, which shows up in my ‘Guest Post’ feature indicating that Elliott awaits my entry.
When I click it, I compose my blog, just as I would if posting on my own site. When I’m done and submit it, Elliott receives it and is able to determine (if not already scheduled) when he wishes for it to be published. This allows guest posting to be maintained virtually hands-free since posts can be received and scheduled well in advance…while Elliott is on the beach!
Hence, guest endeavors (and thriving community) are sequenced through the WordPress system. Does this makes sense? Thanks for listening.
Michael

Hey there!
Thanks for the kind words, and for the suggestion! I think what you’re looking for is the “Contributor” role which we’ve created:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#contributor
As long as you’ve already got a WordPress.com user account, it makes it even easier. You just have to follow the instructions which are included in that article to invite someone to become a part of your blog and specify their role as a Contributor (anything higher and they can just post their articles themselves), and there you have it!
