Guidance on Setting Up a Magazine Blog

This is very particular help I’m looking for on a unique topic. I am trying to make my blog like a magazine. It would feature articles I write based on like these: recipes, home décor, fashion, current projects, giveaways/contests, featured artists, and the like. I can’t figure out if I should make separate pages for these like a drop-down menu (I have started one under ‘Home’) or what. If there is anyone who can take a look at what I have, understand what I want (very much like a craft magazine with a few home-life add-ins) and can give me guidance and suggestions, that would be helpful. Also, do you think I should upgrade to a paid-for blog in order to get exactly what I’m looking for?

I would start with these steps:

Check the themes for a magazine style theme – learn as much as you can about the theme’s features

Create categories for the target areas for your blog.: recipes, decor, fashion, etc.

Add your major categories to your menu. Each category when clicked will show a blog-.type page with all your posts in that category with the newest one first.

    Check out these support documents:
    Category Pages –

    Custom Menu –

I’m sure other posters might have some more ideas.

That was actually very clear and concise. I appreciate the help. Sometimes my creativity goes into overdrive, I overthink then stress out on the smallest things, so guidance does help.
