Guidance regarding editor plans

    The new (beep beep boop) editor is up and running. It looks very nice and is easy to use. It also lacks (as far as I can tell) functionality available in the “classic” editor: the dropdown for font style, the “add poll” button, the undo button, and so on. And TimeThief mentioned this editor doesn’t automatically save to the server.

    The editor overview mentions the Visual Editor and the Text Editor but not the bbb editor.

    Would staff be able to provide at this stage any general guidance as to what’s planned? Presumably WordPress.com isn’t just adding one more editor. Which one is going away? If I like the classic editor, should I consider switching to a desktop editor? Thanks for any information you can provide.

    Hmm, no replies or comments. At the top of the classic editor it says the bbb editor is an “improved posting experience.” In the bbb editor, the link to switch to the classic editor is there, but it’s all the way down at the bottom. This suggests that the classic editor, though not going away soon, is about to entire its retirement years where it will no longer be enhanced. OK, I’ll think about switching to desktop.

    Also be aware that many of us bloggers live in dread of the day that the classic editor is removed and all we have is that Beep Beep Boop editor. As for me I can no longer stand the stress that we endure by being software guinea pigs here at WordPress.COM here. Over 8 years on this roller coaster ride has exhausted me. Now I simply made the choice to blog without obligation after the last round of changes designed to “improve” my blogging experience had the opposite effect, yet again. Meanwhile I’m developing another site on different software that’s intuitive and very easy to use.

    Beep Beep Boop editor

    I prefer the term “Blue Death Editor”

    Note also that the Dashboard is now called the “Classic Dashboard” feel good now?

    @auxclass
    I just can’t take any more without losing it and publishing a series of rants. There ought to be attention given to how many changes are thrown at us bloggers sans any prior warnings in any given year. Even though several of my clients and I do like some WordPress software features we have reached the breaking point so I have helped those who have had enough move their content. As for me, I have paid for one year more of domain mapping and no-ads upgrades on my blogging tips blog, which serves no purpose other than to help other wordpress.com bloggers. At the end of that year it will be history as my honeymoon with wordpress is long over and done.

    I don’t care how fast they add changes as long as the changes work. That is not the case with this one. Who wants to hit Publish and roll the dice on either publishing or losing a post?

    Apologies for missing the earlier discussions. Sorry to see @timethief go. I still think I’d better check what the desktop editors have to offer.

    I think may do that.
