Guided Transfer

  • Unknown's avatar

I tried to purchase a guided transfer to move a WP.com site to self-hosted, but it gave me an error before completing it saying ‘you already have some of these features, are you sure you want to continue’, but didn’t allow my to continue and just stopped the transaction.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

It looks like you have three different users on your account. Only the user that owns the blog will be able to buy a Guided Transfer, and that’s not your account.

You can see the other usernames under My Sites ->People. You’ll need to log in as the correct user first.

I have tried on the original account but I still am getting the same error message and it won’t let me complete the transaction still. I am logged into the @Benagen account, same issue. (Same with @bena8040)

Error message: “This blog already has some of these upgrades. Did you mean to renew your subscriptions?”

There is nowhere to say yes continue or anything.

I have checked other common problems, The site is running 2014 theme not a premium theme. It doesn’t appear to have a custom font or anything.

Also, the guided transfer button does not show up on the export page like WP help says it should. I have found it by searching “help”. However, the only explanations listed on why it might not be on the export page is having a premium theme or font.

This has been a lot of work to get a guided transfer, please help me resolve this. Thanks

  • I am logged into the @Benagen account, same issue. (Same with @bena8040)

You are posting here logged in as @designsone8. Log out of this account completely, and clear your browser cache and cookies. Then log in as the username @bena8040. That account is the owner of the site.

It seems you’ve already added the guided transfer to your shopping cart, so if you log in as that account and go directly to this link you should be able to buy it.

Yes, I understand I am logged in here as a different user. I will continue to respond in this thread on this username so I get the emails not the other accounts.

I have followed your instructions exactly and ended in the same error message. I logged out cleared out cache and cookies. I was signed into bena8040 when I clicked the link.

Error message: “This blog already has some of these upgrades. Did you mean to renew your subscriptions?”

    What else can I try?

The benagen account seemed to have control over the domain transfer, bena8040 was not able to request a domain transfer, but benagen was. Not sure which account is in control of which parts, but neither seems to be able to buy this guided transfer.

    Thanks

Just to cover all the bases, I re logged out, cleared cache and cookies signed in with the other benagen account and still ended up with the same error message.

It shouldn’t matter, but I was using a different credit card than the one on file, I was using one with my name that’s not tied to the account in any way. Just trying to think of other variables.

Please let me know next steps.

  • I’ve removed the upgrade from the cart of that account. Can you try logging back in as that user and add a new Guided Transfer upgrade?

    Still not working, same error.

Error message: “This blog already has some of these upgrades. Did you mean to renew your subscriptions?”

I logged out, cleared cache, cookies, and then logged in as bena8040 as you said before and ended in the same error.

The option for guided transfer is still not found in the export tab as WP helps says it should. But again we are using twenty fourteen theme and as far as I know standard fonts.

What else could be going on?

I was only doing this as a time saver because it is a big site that would have to be broken up into small sections exporting and importing. Also because this is such an important project to the site owner I didn’t want to miss any files. However, this is becoming super time-consuming. It looks like she has a paid premium package until November at least, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

    Thanks

  • I cannot see any reason why you shouldn’t be able to buy that upgrade if you are logged in as the correct account. The theme, font, and what upgrades you own has no impact on this at all. The only thing that matters is that only the account that owns the site can buy a guided transfer.

Can you try logging into the correct account in an incognito window in Chrome?

Also because this is such an important project to the site owner I didn’t want to miss any files.

So you are not the site owner, and not the owner of the account that owns the site? In that case it might be better if the site owner can post here themselves, as the next step is to contact them via email and we can only do that via the email address of the site owner, not of any other account that is a user on the site.

    This did not work either.

I only bring up the theme and fonts because it says it could be an issue on the WP help topics. I have tried all accounts, none are working. I am getting to the guided transfer from searching it on help and adding it to my cart.

I am part owner of the site. All emails on this process should be handled through my account. She is a very nice 80-year-old lady, but emailing with her on this topic will only further delay getting this resolved.

    Please send me next steps.

    Thanks

What is the status of this we have been working on this for a week now?

  • Hi @designsone8, I hope you don’t mind me jumping in to help. I used to do guided transfers and I can tell you the font actually might matter, because we won’t have the same font licenses on a new server.

If you have logged in as the site owner and you’re getting a message about the font, please try disabling the custom font under My Site > Customize … just set it back to the theme’s default. Then you should be able to buy the transfer.
