  Do we know when Gutenberg will become mandatory? I keep reading about the Classic Editor PLUGIN being supported until 2022, but I’m not sure what that means. Since my account is basic, I do not get any plugins. Will I be able to switch between one editor and another until 2022? Or will I have to change to Gutenberg sooner, or upgrade my account to get plugins?

  To restore the Classic Editor, follow the steps under “Will I still be able to use the old editor?” at https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/#frequently-asked-questions

  We do recommend the new editor though, and we have some extensive documentation available at https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/

  At this time, we don’t have any estimate as to when the Classic Editor will be removed from WordPress.com.

  Thank you for your answer. There seems to be a bit of confusion going on about the doomsday date.
