Gutenberg – back to the 1970s Why????

Spend about two weeks now fighting this monster – basically in the 1970s block based mainframe editors were abandoned and replaced by WYSIWYG word processors.

Nothing works – I have to apply formats 3-4 times, it freezes after every change and I have to refresh, each edit is say 8 clicks that used to be one. Bullet points don’t work. Whatever I apply doesn’t appear until preview, sometimes its the opposite of what I see on the screen. Everything takes 3 times longer.

There is an irritating format block just where I want to write and hiding what I want to read and improve on.

If we were using Gutenberg and you produced the Classic editor we would be cheering from the rooftops.

May be this is geek paradise – all I see is a mass exodus of users which is a pity as I want my blog to be there for the very few interested people for as long a possible.

Why?? The product got 3.6 out of 5 before it was adopted.

    This is a big fail

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi,

One point Gutenberg is to see more of the layout in real time, so if that’s not working for you, let’s get that fixed. Can you let us know what browser and type of device you’re using?

each edit is say 8 clicks that used to be one

Can you walk us through what you’re trying to do? Let us know what steps you took before and what steps you’re taking now. We’d love to get usability issues addressed, too.
