Gutenberg editing issues
-
Hi!
I am trying to use the Gutenberg Editor like before but on the ‘Block’ tab I get this ‘Use the Classic WordPress Editor’.
What can be done about it, please?
I want to be able to change font size and everything else like before!
If I press ‘Convert to blocks’ it takes me to html codes…
Thanks a lot!

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.
If you see that message, check your installed plugins to see if you’re using the Classic Editor plugin. If you only want to use the Gutenberg editor, you can disable and delete that and you should be all set.
If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

Hey.
Thanks for your message.
I have done that. I have deleted the Classic Editor plugin but still Gutenberg it’s not working as it was before?

Hello there,
Just to check, is Gutenberg installed https://wordpress.org/plugins/gutenberg/ ?
Failing that, you would to reach out to the hosting provider to see why the site isn’t working as intended in WP Admin.
Also, another thing to rule out – are you using any page builder plugins?

Hey!
I have contacted the hosting company and they have fixed the issue!
However, Gutenberg is very slow, can you please suggest an alternative?
Classic Editor I am not a huge fan though…
Thank you!

Hello there,
However, Gutenberg is very slow, can you please suggest an alternative?
That doesn’t sound normal, you should probably do some plugin troubleshooting to see if there’s a cause for that.
This would involve deactivating all plugins, and then reactivating them one by one to see which one is causing the slowness there.

Hi,
I don’t know what to say. On the reviews page, it seems that everyone complains of Gutenberg is too slow…
Thank you very much for your support!

Hi there,
We’d like to help more directly, but as helper-heroponriki mentioned above, we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed business hosting. As a result we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.
Instead your host uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com, so for help with this you will need to turn to the open-source WordPress forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
Plugin conflicts are a common source of slow performance on self-hosted WordPress sites with other providers, so before you post on that forum there I would also recommend temporarily disabling all plugins on your site (except for Gutenberg) and see if that helps with performance. If not then it points to a deeper issue that the folks at the above link can help with.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
