Gutenberg edition: problems, problems, problems!
-
Hello,
I’m really disappointed by the Gutenberg edition of WordPress. I turned everything into blocks and now I’m having problems: I can’t justify my text in a “block” (only put it left, right or centre). Also, when I try to upload a tiled gallery I… loose all of my other photo galleries inside the post! The appear of course at the media library, but not on the post!
You shouldn’t start the Gutenberg experience, since you weren’t ready for it at the beginning of this story.
Disaster… If I didn’t put money recenlty on my site, I would change a website maker instantly and leave this Gutenberg nightmare…:-( :-(

Hi there,
I can’t justify my text in a “block” (only put it left, right or centre)
Justify hasn’t been added to Gutenberg yet, though I’ve made a note of your request for it here though: https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/28696
In the meantime, you can add the Classic Block and then use the short key which you mentioned and were previously using to Justify text. I appreciate that this is inconvenient, but unfortunately it’s the best way for now.
Also, when I try to upload a tiled gallery I… loose all of my other photo galleries inside the post!
Could you please clarify what you mean by this, since I’m unable to recreate currently. Are you using the Tiled Gallery Block? When exactly do the other images disappear (eg. after adding more images to an already added Tiled Gallery Block), and which blocks do they disappear from?

You’re welcome to disable Gutenberg if it doesn’t yet suit your needs. If you’re trying to disable it on the Calypso interface, when editing a post, please click the options menu in the top right and then click “Switch to Classic Editor” at the bottom. The Classic Editor is going to be maintained until at least 2022.
Let us know if you have you have any further questions or issues. :)

Hello again.
I understand that I can return to the previous version of WordPress, but when someone introduces you to a ‘new way of editing text etc. in a new invironment’ of course you want to try it, thinking that this will become permanent…
Justifying text is very easy to add it.
The ‘picture problem’ appears after adding more images to a new (or an already added) Tiled Gallery Block. All of a sudden, ALL the other blocks that contained photos are having the block empty with the usual message: “Tiled Gallery. Drag an image, upload a new oneo or select a file from your library. Upload files/Media Gallery”.

Gutenberg is a new way in a new environment, but it’s constantly being improved. This is just the very beginning, so don’t worry if you’re not too fond of it just yet! More features will be added over time as well, and that includes the Justify feature. I’d recommend following along in the issue if you’d like to keep up to date with that: https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/28696

Thanks for reporting this! I am still unable to recreate this, so I’d appreciate some more confirmation on this. Here’s what I am doing:
1. Adding an image block
2. Adding a Tiled Gallery block
3. Writing a paragraph
4. Adding an image to the same Tiled Gallery blockI see no issues after doing this, but am I understanding you correctly that after adding the image for a second time, your image from step one disappears?
If so, could I please ask for some more details?
1) What is the URL you’re writing your post at? Is it Gutenlypso, the wp-admin etc.
2) Could you please take a screenshot/video/GIF of this behaviour? You can use a site like https://prntscr.com to upload it and leave a link here. Taking a screenshot: https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
3) What device & browser are you using? Thanks!
-
I’m using the Opera Browser with a Windows 10 PC.
I didn’t understand the first question. -
Thanks for the extra details! I’m still struggling to recreate this, but I’ve tagged WordPress.com staff to see if they can offer further steps to proceed. :)

Hi there,
Can you please give us the exact steps you’re following to get to the gallery issue? Is it the steps as @torres126 outlined above, or are you using a different process? The screen shots on their own don’t really help if we don’t know how you get to that point to start with.
Are you creating posts at My Site ->Blog Posts ->Add, or at WP-Admin ->Posts ->Add New?

Hi to all!
OK! I’ll give you a video from my PC.
I think that helps a lot to see the way I’m trying to upload photos and how they suddenly disappear…
I know it’s greek to you, but… ok, you’ll get an idea!
Here’s the link from my dropbox account:https://www.dropbox.com/s/kyke7fmr4vyulnd/Live_Proadcasting_OBS%20%2810%29.mp4?dl=0

Thank you! So this only happens when editing an existing post, correct?
I still was not able to duplicate this here, but I also don’t have Opera on Windows.
Does the same thing happen with another browser?
-
Yes, this happens when i try to upload more photos. All other photos just disappear.
I tried it in Mozilla and Chrome with the same results.:-( :-(

Okay, it looks like this is a known issue, and we’ve had some other reports of it as well.
Our developers are working on a fix for this, but I’m not able to tell you when that might be done. For now, please try editing the page in WP-Admin instead – the issue appears to be specific to the My Sites editor, so it should work in the WP-Admin editor:

Hi there,
This issue should be fixed now, but please let us know in a new thread if you’re still seeing any issues with galleries in the block editor.
