Gutenberg editor

Hi. I am trying to use the Gutenberg editor for my new website, but the Paragraph Block will only type in capital letters. I can’t get it to type in lower case. Please advise why this might be and how I can change it, as there is no options for that on the various tool bars. Many thanks. Anne

I have now worked out that the Global Typography of my Theme was set to CAPITALS!! So I have solved the problem. Apologies for taking up your time.

I have the same problem. Where did you check to see if it’s set to all caps or not? Please let me know.

Hi @alet2017
I do not see any sites under your WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/sites.
Is it possible you created your site under a different login? Is it the case that you are using another provider like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?
Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

From the left hand menu select Appearance, then Customise.
From there, select Global, then Typography, then Base Typography. Scroll down and you will see a Drop Down Menu headed Text Transform. Mine said ‘Capitalise’ which I assume yours might too – just click on the arrow and change it to Default. After that, your text will be lower case, with capitals at the start of a sentence.
I hope that helps! -
Hi staff-totoro
Thanks for coming back to my query, though as you will see above, I did manage to resolve it in the end!! I appreciate your time though.

Hi there @alet2017 Since you didn’t share your site’s address, we can’t know whether your site is hosted here on WordPress.com. Just to clarify, this support forum assists users with free websites hosted on the WPcom platform. For more information on the differences: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
From the left hand menu select Appearance, then Customise.
From there, select Global, then Typography, then Base Typography. Scroll down and you will see a Drop Down Menu headed Text Transform.I tried to follow the path you outlined in your reply, but couldn’t in any of my WordPress.com sites, so I suspect you might be talking about a site that uses the open source WordPress software. If that is the case, you can find help over at https://wordpress.org/support/ or with your theme’s author. Best wishes.

Many thanks, @justjennifer.
As mentioned above, I thankfully sorted the problem out – but hadn’t realised I was accessing a forum only for free WP sites. Thank you so much for clarifying this and for the helpful link.
