Gutenberg failure

    I have tried and tried and tried: the classic editor on Gutenberg is impossible to work with. I paste something on the page. I can’t give the entire paragraph a color. I try one word at a time. That works. I try one line. That may work or may not work. Then the Classic Editor frame is nowhere to be seen. I click here and there…occasionally it will reappear.

    When I try to use HTML, it is impossible to get the Visual Editor back.

    There are two old rules that tech folks building TECH CASTLES in the sky should never forget:
    1. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
    2. Conciseness is always superior to complexity.

    What people ‘upgrading’ a mechanism such as WordPress must always keep in mind: there are people down here on earth who are getting screwed over by your insane innovations. You have cost me a lot of fruitless time expenditure, in addition to the fact that I had a timely election day post that I was unable to effectuate on one of my WordPress sites.

    Caution: you will not attract new business with insanity such as your Gutenberg Mess.

    Suggestion: Go back to Classic and modulate it here and there where you think improvement will be helpful to users. Helpfulness to users should always be your goal, because if the user is happy WordPress business will flourish. If a mass of users are unhappy, the word will travel like proverbial lightening.

  • Thanks for the feedback. Gutenberg came about because so many users were requesting an editor like it.

    We’d like to make it easier for everyone, though.

    Would you be willing to try creating the paragraph with blocks? It will have options for background and text colors if that’s what you’re after.

    Thank you, Supernovia, for your response. Sometime this week I will Search online HOW TO USE WORDPRESS GUTENBERG. (I wanted to make that Search phrase italics, but was unable.)

    @stanleybrookoff,

    I wanted to make that Search phrase italics, but was unable.
    Hi. To create italics in a support forum post, highlight the relevant text, then click the “em” icon in the toolbar.
