h3 block vs inline
-
I recently changed my h3 header to display as inline instead of block because I wanted images to be able to wrap around the h3 headline.
However, now I can’t find a way to increase the space between the heading and the text below it, whether it be a paragraph or an ordered list.

Please help. Thanks.

If it is inline you can’t add space on the bottom or top just the sides.
Can you show me where you want the text to wrap?
It would be easier to change the h3 back to block, to add space. You might be putting the image in the wrong place to have it wrap the way you want.
-
I think you are right.
So I will do that. Images are a trouble area for me. I can put images on the desktop and they look nice, but when they render down to smaller screen sizes such as iphone they become probematic.
So I will do that now. Stand by.
Thanks, too.

ok, back to h3 block, and I put a picture up on the page. Notice the white space created. Not enough paragraph text between h3 headers. also, notice what happens to image and the relative width when screen size becomes smaller. It looks okay on the WP resizer, but in the actual rendering on the phone, its another matter.

to control the space under and h3 just use this
h3 { padding-bottom: 30px; }you can set padding-bottom to any amount you want. You can also use % or em or rem units if you like using those. If it doesn’t work when you load it in try using the ‘!important’ after. and that will over ride it
h3 { padding-bottom: 30px !important; } -

Can you point us to where those images are? On the page you reference, I’m not seeing any images, only the video at the top.

Whew! I am glad you are back. So much has happened while you were gone. Yesterday, I spent the extra $200 on top of the $100 to buy the business plan. Initially, it messed up a whole lot. All my html custom widgets were lost and a lot more. So a lot had to be rebuilt.
Now I have another problem. It’s a good problem. But still a challenge. I am amazed at all the possibilities that I have with all the plugins. It like a whole new world.
I really like the ajax lite search, and am toying around with elementor (which is amazing). I can do a whole lot of things on the front end without going to deep in the backend. I am little dissapointed, however, that the MORE tag does not work with eliminator. So I may use that just on Pages and not posts.

Hey there,
I hope you don’t mind me jumping in to help. It looks like you’ve got most of this sorted out now — do you still need help?
-
lol, i am so distracted. trying to choose between Elementor and Siteorigin plugin with the Business Plan. Also have some compatibility issues with other plugins. What a mess! I’m fine.
-
@411holy plugins really are a whole new world. Enjoy, and if you need more help do know you can get in touch directly too at http://wordpress.com/help/contact –cheers!
-
@411holy don’t forget to deactivate the plugins you are not using to avoid potential conflicts.
-
thanks. right now I have both Elemenor and SiteOrigin page builders activated. Using both…to see which I like best. No conflicts though. But it’s scary.
-
If you have two plugins that are supposed to be doing the same thing, I recommend just using one at a time so you can really evaluate which is better for you.
RE: things being scary, we do keep frequent backups, for what it’s worth. You can log in via Vaultpress at any time to restore if anything goes wrong, or staff can help you with that, too.
-
thanks.
I have tried out Elementor page builder on some pages, and SiteOrigin on other pages (keeping them separate). I am leaning toward Elementor. Do you have any experience with that? What I really like is that each of them give you complete control of CSS when you want it. (so this isn’t really off topic).
QUESTION: So you are telling me that my Game of Thrones website (which I spent 100 dollars on the premium plan, besides the 300 I spent on the one for this website, can be restored? I messed things up pretty bad when I accidentally switched themes.)

Questions Resolved. Here is the transcript from my chat with WP
I have been researching vaultpress on line and find it confusing tyring to separate wordpress.org and wordpress.com, premium and business plan, etc.
1. With my business plan, I don’t have to do anything. Everything is automatic. My understanding is the vaultpress is automatically activated and backing up everything, and the only time I need to do something is when something bad happens? Right?
2. I have another website with a Premium plan, but I had to abandon it when the website I was working on got messed up when I accidentally switched themes. (i.e. all my custom widgets in 6 sidebars of academica theme, were placed in one sidebar. When I reverted back to academica theme, these widgets (over 100) were never sent back to original sidebars, and I lost visibility settings, too.
Can that premium website be restored?
Hi there!
hi
For your first question, that is correct.
awesome
VaultPress is auto-managed and you will not need to do anything.
For your second question, may I ask which site you are referring to? game-of-thrones-episodes.com?
yes that is the one
Ok, great! Checking into your WP-admin, I see that you have a lot of inactive widgets.
Please re-add those widgets to the proper places here: https://gameofthronesportal.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
In order to do that it would take many hours. There is no way to restore it?
Yeah I can understand it’s a pain but sometimes when you change themes, widgets get inactivated.
It’s not just the inactive one. Many of the active ones are out of place, and the settings are wrong.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a versioning tool for widgets so you will need to re-adjust these widgets manually.
Does the same thing apply with Vaultpress on the Business PLan? I mean, it does not apply to widgets? So vaultpress is not a complete restoration–does not include widget settings?
VaultPress restores the database and themes as they were at the point in time of the snapshot. So you’ll have the same theme and widget layout that you had at that point in time.
Kindly note that VaultPress only applies to your Business plan site.
So if I had the business plan with the Game of Thrones website at the time things were messed up, it could have been restored completely.
That’s correct!
Awesome. That is all I am really worried about right now. After all, I have only so much time to spend on websites. This gives me the reassurance and confidence I need to move ahead with the current theme I have with the Businesss Plan. Thanks for you help. Have a good day.

I would strongly recommend that you use only one pagebuilder on a site and not 2.
The reason is that pagebuilders add a lot of code to the page to do all the nifty things they do and that code is not the same for each. So when you try to switch a page made with a pagebuilder into another one or stop using it you will see all the “garbage” code now interlaced within your content. Some pagebuilders do “release” you content cleaner but I wouldn’t count on it.
There is also a higher chance of conflicts if you have 2 running.
Just my 2 cents, glad you are enjoying all the options.

I deleted siteorigin. Thanks. Not sure I am happy with Elementor though, so using it only on select pages for now, and sticking with regular WP interface for others. Thanks for the advice.
-
The constant backup / restore feature is part of the business plan (necessary when folks install plugins that can break things). We don’t include it in other plans where the main danger is folks deleting things on purpose. Still, if you’ve not already tried to troubleshoot the other site with staff we’ll see what we can do. I recommend opening a new thread though for a separate issue, as this thread is already quite complex.
