HA Proxy & WordPress

    Hello everyone,

    Currently still learning WordPress so hopefully this is an easy fix. I have installed WP on a Ubuntu box at home.

    When I started, it was fine on port 80 but now that HA Proxy is applying a SSL cert and an external address, the appearance editor doesn’t load and I get alerts about APIs being unreachable.

    I changed the site address to the external address I will be handing out but when I change the WordPress Address to the same, I loose access completely and have to start again.

    Would anyone be able to advise what I can do to get the editor working and the only address to be used is https://blog.wrigglethemouse.com/

    Looking at the website source, it appears that everything is looking at my private IP for the admin account!

    It sounds like a mixed content or redirect issue caused by the change in WordPress and Site URLs. First, ensure both the WordPress Address and Site Address are set to https://blog.wrigglethemouse.com in Settings > General. Then, check your database (wp_options table) for any lingering http:// entries that might need updating.

    If changing the WordPress Address locks you out, try defining it in wp-config.php instead:

    define(‘WP_HOME’, ‘https://blog.wrigglethemouse.com’);
    define(‘WP_SITEURL’, ‘https://blog.wrigglethemouse.com’);

    Also, verify HAProxy is correctly forwarding HTTPS requests without breaking internal links. If you still have issues with API calls, a plugin like Traffic Monitor (https://wordpress.org/plugins/traffic-monitor/) can help log blocked or failing requests, revealing what might be interfering.

    I’ve tried this and got exactly the same problem.

    The error I continue to get is too many re-directs.

    We can’t help as that site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform. You all must solve your problems by taking a look in the documentation at wordpress.org.
