  I need help help redeeming my domain that seems to have been hacked.

  Thanks for confirming! It looks like this domain name thomaswingren.com was most recently renewed in January of 2021. It was not renewed in January 2022, which means that it would have gone through the redemption and deletion over the course of the first two or three months of 2022.   As it is, it looks like your domain went through the full redemption and deletion periods back in March 2022; per the information I can find, it looks like it was deleted on 26 March 2022 following non-renewal.

  After this, thomaswingren.com was registered by another person, through another company, on 3 May 2022 – that’s around 11 months ago. The public information for thomaswingren.com indicates that it’s currently valid until 3 May 2023.

  What this means is that thomaswingren.com isn’t available to redeem or re-register at this time, as it is currently owned by someone else. If the current owner doesn’t renew it, it’ll again go through the redemption/deletion periods and may potentially become available for you to register once more in the future.   That “another person” is apparently a Chinese porn site. Isn’t there rules at WordPress for these situations?

  When you let a domain expire, you are literally stating you don’t need it anymore. After a lengthy period, the domain becomes available to anyone who wants to buy it.

  There is no (legal) way to claim that domain.

  Unfortunately, it is not possible to regain access of that domain. At least, that is not something we can assist you with. This is why it is so important to make sure a domain does not expire if you wish to continue using it.

  To clarify, these are not rules set by us. The domain went through the normal domain life cycle after it expired. It was registered by someone else because it was not renewed by you in time.

  There may be options still but that is not something we can assist with. There is an organization that does oversee all domain registrations. You can check out Trademark Infringement to see if it applies to you. Otherwise, you should wait to see if the domain becomes available again.
