Hacked site – trying to restore

  • Unknown's avatar

It appears my site – lesmilesisagenius.wordpress.com has been hacked and all of my posts, themes, site layout, etc. have been deleted. Is there any way to restore the site? I read several Support forum posts that suggested looking for deleted posts in the Trash, but I don’t see a trash link or icon anywhere in the admin pages.

    Thank you,

I checked http://lesmilesisagenius.wordpress.com/ and there is no evidence of any deletions or theme changes or anything like that in the activity history.

Are you certain you are viewing the right URL?

What is an example of a post title that is missing?

That’s interesting and good to know. We registered lesmilesisagenius.com (not a wordpress domain) at Go Daddy, then forwarded that domain to lesmilesisagenius.wordpress.com.

You can see an archive of the site here:

    Any thoughts?

I checked the WordPress.com system, and I couldn’t find any record of lesmilesisagenius.com being setup here at WordPress.com in the past. I also looked at the DNS records, and I found that the lesmilesisagenius.com domain is currently setup with DNS pointing to NS51.DOMAINCONTROL.COM and NS52.DOMAINCONTROL.COM and those name servers are not WordPress.com servers.

It appears you had the lesmilesisagenius.com domain setup using WordPress.org software through outside hosting and the hosting company where you had setup that domain is who you need to contact regarding this issue.

Note that http://lesmilesisagenius.wordpress.com/ and http://lesmilesisagenius.com/ appear to be completely separate sites hosted differently based on the information I can find.

Sorry, I should have let you know that we shut off domain forwarding to lesmilesisagenius.wordpress.com yesterday night. Before yesterday, lesmilesisagenius.com and lmiag.com were both forwarding to lesmilesisagenius.wordpress.com. I’m certain that I own both the .com and .wordpress.com sites.

Given that, we’re back to the original question – can whatever was at the wordpress site be restored? It’s possible these changes were made several months ago – can you see edits going back to the inception of the wordpress site in October 2010?

    Thank you!

As Sheri mentioned before; we checked http://lesmilesisagenius.wordpress.com/ and there is no evidence of any deletions or theme changes or anything like that in the activity history. The other domain wasn’t registered at WordPress.com, so therefore we don’t have any content history of that.
