Hacker?

    Hi I have a blog at wordpress and I pay 18 $/year at on every march. Today a recive a mail from (email visible only to moderators and staff) and they say:

    Domain SEO Service Registration Corp.
    Notice#: 733701
    Date: 01/13/2016
    EXPIRATION OFFER NOTICE

    […]

    This message, which contains promotional material strictly along the guidelines of the CAN-SPAM act of 2003. We have clearly mentioned the source mail-id of this email, also clearly mentioned our subject lines and they are in no way misleading. Please do not reply to this email, as we are not able to respond to messages sent to this address.

    What is this?
    They have my adress, how come?

    No, this does not mean that someone hacked your account. Unless you registered your domain with a “WHOIS privacy” option, your name and contact information are publicly available.

    Look up “Domain SEO Service Registration Corp.” on Google. You will see lots of reports calling the company’s offering a “scam”.

    And then ignore/delete that e-mail.

    At WordPress.com, you don’t need to buy any kind of SEO services.

    It is a scam – I get them on a regular basis – last one had a “lifetime” offer for only $495.-I think – – – it is a glorified search engine register thing – no real value – you don’t really need to register your blog with a search engine to have your blog indexed – they are just trying to scare you

    if you have a custom domain name there needs to be contact info visible to the public for the domain – so when someone does a whois the contact info comes up – the privacy option puts a third party between you and the public
