A visitor to my blog gets bounced to a fraudulent website and asked for details
-
Hi there!
What’s the address of the site in question? Do you have more details about what your visitor saw? Was is a popup ad? Have you also noticed something like that on your site?
-
Hi
This is what the visitor wrote ‘I like your site but it appears to have been hijacked and when I go to your site I automatically gets bounced to a fraudulent website asking me to put in my information.’
No one else has mentioned anything and I’ve not noticed anything. -
That is odd. Was that a comment or an email someone sent? Or did a friend mention it to you directly?
If it’s a friend can they get a screenshot and send it to you? We’ll see if we can find more info. Also, let us know what browser they were using, and what kind of device or computer if possible.
If it was just a commenter, it’s possible they are trying to spam you, ironically, though it may be legitimate.

Also, if it was a commenter who is a friend, and if this was actual an ad that hijacked their browser, could you ask for the following info?
– Their device/browser and operating system
– Their IP address (whatismyip.com will tell them what it is)
– The exact URL of the page/post that showed the ad
– What was being advertised
– The address that the ad took them to
– Time and date the popup occurred
– If possible, a screenshot of the ad that hijacked the browser
