Hacking Links posted in Forums.
-
Hello-
I need help. I was in an old (closed) WordPress Forum and clicked on a link that I thought would help me. Sadly, the link directed me to a page that said “Hacked by Bradly”I’ve updated my Passwords, however, I am still very nervous that my information has been compromised.
Please advise what other precautions I should take.Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve tagged this for staff to remove the link in this post so that other unsuspecting community members will not click on it.
However, doing a search of these forums brought back only one post by that particular user and there is no link included in his post. So if you have the link to the relevant forum post where you found that suspect link, please include it here so that Staff can remove it from that forum post as well.

In addition to the precautions you mentioned above, if it will make you more comfortable, you should run a virus and malware scan on your computer.

Hi Jennifer-
Here are the links to the Forums
(It was on wordpress.org)

Well, that’s a wordpress.ORG issue that should be reported over at WordPress.ORG. We have no access to their forums.
-
Well, yes, *now* we know that because the links weren’t posted previously.
Regardless, I’m sure that when Staff look in on this thread they will also find a way to take care of the offending links.

just to reassure anyone, visiting a site that says “hacked by badi” won’t harm your computer. See http://vlexofree.com/wiki/Exploit:_Hacked_by_badi

To be clear, do I report this to WordPress.org or can you guys take care of it?
Tandava- I shamelessly admit that I don’t 100% understand what that means. Please forgive my ignorance, but in layman’s terms, does that mean I don’t have to worry about spyware, malware, any other type of ware/viruses distroying my computer from clicking on this link?

@lovelephan,
That’s right – the blog has been hacked but it is a known hack that cannot spread to a computer by viewing the page.If you want WordPress.org to remove the links from their forums you should report it to them – they are completely separate from these WordPress.com forums

@jackiedana- Thanks! Could you also remove the suspect link from the OP’s original post here?
