Had a steady audience for 9 months, then for past 3 days, zero. What's wrong?
-
Suddenly, I have had zero visits and views to my site after a steady stream of them for the past 9 months. I don’t know what to do. It’s like I just dropped out of the blogosphere. I didn’t touch my privacy settings. The only thing I did differently before this happened was that I created a page for the very first time. Not a post, but a page. Can you help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I had a steady audience for the past nine months. For the past three days, I have received zero views or visits. Something’s wrong. I’ve checked my privacy settings and publicize and it all seems okay. The only thing I did that was different was I created a page on my blog. Not a post, but a page. Could that have anything do to with this?
-
No, that shouldn’t have anything to do. When you say a steady readership, do you mean less than 40 or so? If so, just wait it out for another day. It could well be that nobody’s come by yet today.

Raincoaster, you’re a gem for responding. Thank you. If it’s not a technological problem or a privacy setting problem, then the only conclusion is — no traffic. I’ll publish this week, as usual, and hope for the best. It’s just odd because every day for the past 60 days it’s been steady, but like you mentioned, less than 40. Hmm. It’s a little disconcerting to have increased the frequency (to twice a month plus a couple of DP photo challenges) and not have one person on the planet view it for days in a row. I appreciate your kindness. xx

It also depends on how your traffic shows up – I saw that you have many followers – do you have traffic not from your followers? such as regular traffic from other sites or search engines?

Hi Auxclass — thanks so much for responding. I do get a little traffic from search engines and from referrers. Every time I post, new people find my blog and existing ones return — not all the time, but often enough. I have also managed to attract an international audience although I only have 93 actual followers.. It is SO unusual for me to have zero visitors. One day, okay. But three? I visit other blogs, comment on the ones I like or click the ‘like’ button. I check out Freshly Pressed the same way. I try to do this a couple of times a week. I work full time and my blog is a cherished hobby. I guess I was a little crushed to see the zero. LOL.

Maybe the higher numbers were people who, having found your blog, came back each day to see if there was anything new. If you only post twice a month people (who aren’t followers) might give up on coming back regularly. Maybe they want to see more of you!

Hi Metan1 — thanks for the very positive view of this. ;) I’m sure I’m not doing everything possible to encourage increased views of my blog. I’d like to connect with the blogging community more often and I’d like to know more about how the internet even works. So many questions (what is this Google +) and limited time to find the answers. I became accustomed to seeing at least SOME traffic on my blog every day, no matter how small, and figured I must be doing something right. I appreciate your kind response.

Also, google has changed something and downgraded all Wp blogs, unfortunately. If a lot of your readers were coming from Google Image Searches, as with my blog, unfortunately, we can’t really do anything about that.
-
Raincoaster — really? Did Google happen to downgrade WordPress this particular weekend?? If so, that would explain a lot. It might account, at least in part, for my three days of no traffic. I’m sorry you lost a lot of your readers because of this. Have you been able to compensate somehow? Are Google Image Searches different from a plain search engine search? I don’t recall seeing the phrase Google Image on the stats.

You’re welcome :) If nobody comes for a look it is very disheartening.
Raincoaster is right about the effect of the google images thing. I used to get more referrers from there than anything until it changed :(
-
Metan1 – hmm. That just seems unfair. When did it change? How long have you noticed reduced traffic? We blog to communicate with each other — it IS disheartening when not even one person in the entire world is listening that day…..wishing you the best.
