Had requested a credit the first day I created my blog page, I did not get it

I paid for the Premium membership, yet I don’t think the theme I am using “Oxygen” is considered Premium. I could be wrong, but no where is this explained. I had tried to select cancel the first day I ordered Premium, but did not get the credit on my CC. Also I have WP options which see to be for the /ad_min/ in the sidebar that I cannot get rid of and direction on the left side for image widgets setting with no widget to make it go away in my widgets settings. . (Please configure the Image widget in your widget settings). My blog is for 60 somethings for the most part who are going to see this as very user unfriendly and confusing. I want these gone, but how. Please help with these issues especially the credit. These are the sidebar links I referred to:
    • Discuss
    • Get Inspired
    • Get Polling
    • Get Support
    • Learn WordPress.com
    • Theme Showcase
    • WordPress Planet
    • WordPress.com News
    Meta
    Site Admin
    Log out
These are WP functions that I don’t want to show in my Blog and cannot get rid of, and don’t see any reference anywhere to do this. It is not clear what I am paying $99 a year for. There is no way to ask anyone a direct question regarding any issues with WP. I am very frustrated by the lack of user support.

    Thank you,

Those can be removed easily and quickly form any free hosted WordPress.com blog whether or not it has an upgrade of any kind at all.

Every theme has a “default sidebar display” which does not contain actual widgets. If your change theme or the first time you move a single widget in any theme here > Appearance > Widgets the “default display” which does not contain actual widgets disappears.

Simply go here > Appearance > Widgets and drag and drop the widgets you want to use into place. Click each one to open it, configure it if required, click “save” and click “close”.

If you do not want any widgets to display in the sidebar at all (or footer widget area) you place an empty text widget at the top of the sidebar or footer area. Then click to open, add no title, add no body text, click “save” and click “close”.

    re: http://mainlyspecialneedstravelblog.com/
That blog is being free hosted by WordPress.com and we do provide support for it here on this support forum. I am not clear on which upgrade you are trying to cancel so I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thanks for addressing my question. I had purchased another style for my blog and I realized it did not conform to a layout that I needed, after I purchased it. I think that Theme name was “Linen” which was $68. I went to the blog theme I now have which is named Oxygen, and requested a refund for the Theme I believe I had paid for. I guess what would clear up my confusion is to know if I was charged for the first theme at all. I paid $99 for the year. That is all I can tell you. And I did clear the sidebar and thank you for that.

I paid $99 for the year.

That upgrade does not include a premium theme.

So if you purchased a premium theme ie. Linen then that was a separate transaction.

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund yourself directly from the Store section of your Dashboard
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/#refunds

    If applicable also see http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/#canceling-a-bundle

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

Thanks. That must be the situation then, that it was purchased as a separate transaction. I will watch for it. And thank you for your quick response. Much appreciated.

    HI mainlyspecialneedstravel,

Are you still needing a refund for your premium bundle?

  • Unknown's avatar

Only if I was charged for the Premium Theme (Linen) I believe I first ordered and then replaced with Oxygen. It is not clear. Thanks.

    Hi again,

The only upgrade I see for mainlyspecialneedstravel.wordpress.com is the premium bundle (including your domain). I see no purchases of premium themes on this blog.

    @jackiedana

I see no purchases of premium themes on this blog.

Good day to you and that sounds like good news for mainlyspecialneedstravel.
