Half my page just vanished
-
While working on one of my pages, half the information / phots simply vanished. 15 hours worth of work. Can I get it back?

Had it been published already? If so, check Google; they’ll probably have a cached version. Or Yahoo.
The photos will still be uploaded, and will be in the Gallery for that post.
Can you give us a link to the page we’re talking about?

Yes it was published! The old stuff has been around several months. I added new stuff today.

I got that link by typing the tagline into google, in between quotation marks. Yours was the only hit. I hope that’s the full version.

Alex,
What browser are you using? Given your other thread, it sounds like there’s something very wrong with it. Bad browser extensions/plugins can cause problems like these.
For now I’d suggest disabling the visual editor in your profile (click on your username at the top right of your dashboard).

Tellyworth,
Not sure what you mean. My name is on the top left. What will this do to my blog?
-
The tagline on the post: I reserve these pages to Rant, Bitch, and Whine about the world at large.
Go to your Profile Page. On the top left-hand side of the list of customization options you’ll find the tickbox “Use Visual Editor”. Make sure that is UNTICKED. That won’t do anything to your blog, it’ll just make sure the visual editor doesn’t interfere with your posting. Then staff can work on your blog without worrying about you losing more stuff in the meantime.

So far all I’m finding has the page with the lost info. Please tell me this isn’t the case.

There’s a difference between the post I found in Google Cache and the post on your blog. The Google Cache one ends with an Old Masters painting, not a photo of a little girl.
Try the Yahoo cache then. Search for that line in between quotation marks and it’ll probably come up. Click on the CACHED version, not the other versions.

Part of the problem is that the info / photos vanished when I hit save, which may mean that is the new published version.
That is also when those hunks of code suddenly appeared, and more would show up each save.
I don’t get anything when I put in the tag line.

That’s the one!! How come I can’t find it?

You’re welcome
Since you’ve had such a heartbreaking problem, I would suggestion you download and use an offline blog editor like Blogdesk, Ecto, or Windows Live Writer. Most of them are free and they ALWAYS keep a copy of your work. I think http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com has done reviews, so check there.

I will, thanks. In the mean time I made a clone of the page.
Thanks for allthe help. Your patience with the dummys is much appreciated.
