Half of my post disapeared?

Tried putting in a post today and half of it got removed somehow and replaced with &sbsc ? what is going on with that?

That doesn’t sound good! I’m not sure what happened but it sounds like either you made a mistake while editing or you tried to copy and paste in content that the editor had trouble with. Are you able to reproduce the same problem if you try again? Can you identify if specific code or content is causing the problem for you?

Hmm I made no mistake at all, looking back at it the problem happened at an auto save, everything I wrote after that disapeared, no copy and paste involved at the time.

What is the title of the post where the problem happened? If you check the post revision, can you see the missing content in one of the revisions?

If you were disconnected somehow and the content never made it into the system, then I’m afraid we won’t have a way to recover it. Checking the post revisions is probably the best option now.

Nope I did not re log in or log off or anything that may have disrupted the thing, tried the revisions to and nothing, you would have to go into the trash to see the post and if you can you will see what I was left with, I doubt you will be able to recover it to, which is most anoying, that post took me bloody ages to do so you can imagine my shock when half of it went AWOL.

I need more information in order to help you. What was the post title? Can you describe the content that went missing?

Ok the post in question was called Speculators, Bankers and Governments and can be found in the trash bin, the missing content was lots of text and a you tube vid, good luck.

It looks like what you’re referring too pretty much never existed as far as our system was concerned.
Can you please tell which browser (and version of) you wrote the post in?

Hmm IE9 at which point we could say ahh thats that then, but maybe it was because I was running a back up at the same time, I doubt it but maybe anyway, but how can something not exist on yours but exist on mine?? a puzzle to be sure, hell its been hours since I attempted that post and my blood pressure has diminished, we could chalk it up as one of those things if you cant find a problem, I am sure that this wont be happening again eh?

I’m pretty sure this won’t happen again. At very least, it shouldn’t, and I can’t find any reason for why it happened in the first place.
If I had to guess, I’d say maybe an add-on in IE 9, but we won’t know unless it happens again.

Thanks! We do hate hearing about lost content like this, and we do usually try to figure out what made it happen so we can try to make sure it’s not because of something that’s fixable on our side. In some (hopefully very rare) cases though, something happens and the data doesn’t make it into the system at all, and if that happens there’s not a way for us to recover it. I’m not sure what causes it, but it’s always worth trying to figure it out.
I’ve seen a few similar reports and I’d love to get more info on what’s triggering it and IF it might be browser-related, so collecting browser version info from everyone that reports something similar would be my next step. Thanks for the info and for the report. :)
