Handful of posts getting a lot of views

    I’m sorry if this has been covered in a previous thread, but I’ve searched the forums for a while and couldn’t really come up with anything that quite explained my experience.

    I’ve published 659 posts as of right now, and yet everyday my stats show a relative handful posts, the same ones over and over again in different combinations each day, under Top Posts (the past week) and Most Active (the past day) that are old, sometimes as old as 20 months.

    Yes, some of my newer and most recent posts show up there, but it’s just uncanny how that small group of about 10-15 are getting so much more attention than others.

    Are there bots at work here?

    I’m particularly keen on figuring this out, because, according to the stats my views in September are nearly triple what they were in July. And while I’d love to learn that I’m attracting more readers, these 10-15 posts that seem to get a disproportionate amount of views seems to skew the numbers, leaving me unclear about just how much my readership might be growing.

    I’d be grateful for any input or tips for interpreting my stats correctly if I’m not doing so.

    We Volunteers answering support questions cannot help you with this issue. The stats section states this:
    The following are not counted:
    Visits to uploaded documents and files
    Visits from browsers that do not execute javascript or load images
    GoogleBot and other search engine spiders
    Your own visits to your blog (for logged-in users of public blogs only)

    If you believe your blog has a referrer spam problem or something else of that dubious nature is going on then please contact Staff rather than posting to the forum.

    Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.
