Hanging script

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I have a hanging script that is (not) activated every time WordPress automatically saves a post I am writing or editing. The automatic saves occur every few seconds. This is driving me nuts. As I cannot correct the script error, is there a way to stop or modify the automatic save process? I would rather lose a post than deal with the hanging.

Is that happening on this site?

I would really like to know if I can turn off or increase the time for automatic save. This problem did not occur until the last WordPress upgrade. It is possible (even likely) that there is an incompatibility with my Firefox security options that did not exist in previous WordPress.com versions.

Sadly I stopped the script notifications and can no longer identify the script. I posted another help request in wordpress support, with the script details, but cannot find that post.

    The url is https://apitbullrescuewoman.wordpress.com

    I am using a Lenovo desktop all-in-one, OS Windows NT 10.0, with a 64 b OS and x64-based processor, AMD A4-6210 APU.

Browser is Firefox 43.0 with NoScript and Ghostery add-ons

My internet service provider is Monkeybrains. I have an ethernet network using Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller; TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 connectivity, DHCP enabled, NetBIOS over TCPIP enabled. Windows Firewall is on.

    Found the script popup:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.

    Script: https://s1.wp.com/_static/??-e…ex8//nDNRRH7J8V+yzzbbIuzspVa47:4

Javascript is enabled and the only blocked site is doubleclick

  • Does this occur if you use a different browser? We are not hearing other reports of this issue, so it is somewhat curious.

What is even stranger is that I have another WordPress blog that does not have this problem. Is there any way to change automatic save?

  • Did you test using a different browser?

I tried it in the new browser that comes with windows 10. It worked with no hanging. Yes, it could be a firefox problem. However, I have 2 other sites with a different theme that do not hang, and mostly I just want to turn autosave off or increase the time between auto saves.

    So that’s it?

If it works in another browser, how can I get it to work in the browser my other WordPress blog works in? Could it be the template? Could an item in the blog be causing the problem? Can autosave be turned off? Why is a wordpress script hanging?

  • When something is only a problem in one browser, it is reasonable to look at that browser as the issue. However, with no other reports of the same issue, that typically points to something on the end-user side of things.

It is hard for us to troubleshoot when we cannot replicate the issue.

Please answer this question, which I have asked since the beginning of this conversation:
Is is possible to turn off, suspend, or change the timing interval of the autosave function?
