harassed by comment

Dear All,
I’ve been recently harassed by comment. In an instant reaction of disgust, I deleted it. Only to later realise that I might need the comment as ‘evidence’; should this continue. Is there any way of retrieving deleted comments/spam? I deleted it either over the weekend or the beginning of this week. Thanks in advance.

If it’s still in the spam filter then you can retrieve it. If it in your Trash and you have not permanently deleted it than you can retrieve it from there.

I’m afraid to say I’ve permanently deleted it. I was disgusted/angry and not thinking straight. Does this mean it’s completely gone?
-
Yes it is gone. Do not to allow the comments of a troll to control you emotions. I advise that you let it go. Set your blog up so all comments are moderated and prepare yourself for the fact that the internet is rife with trolls who are sick people.
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
Never feed a troll bu responding to theme emotionally or in written form. Moderate comments, send all troll comments received into Akismet’s jaws, and focus on your blogging.

I’m sorry this is happening to you. I have experienced trolls too; we all have. The key is to deprive these psychologically disturbed people of what they want. (1) They want attention. Don’t give them any. (2) They want to provoke an emotional response. Don’t respond. Send spam to the spam filter without allowing it to evoke any emotional response whatsoever.
You’re welcome and best wishes with your blog. :)

If there is a legal situation involved, then staff might, if you react instantly, be able to retrieve it for you. In that case you would contact them directly via your dashboard Help button.

@timethief: Thanks again. The same for you. :-)
@raincoaster: Do you mean now or next time? If there’s a next time —it’s someone I know of.
