Harmonic: Portfolio/Grid layout for Blog page?

I just changed my theme to Harmonic, and I like the simplicity of the grid page for Portfolio; I’m changing featured images right now (and merging an external portfolio into the one on my site).
My question, though, is about my Blog page. I used to have the option to format the Blog page as a grid, much like the Portfolio page. Harmonic doesn’t offer that option to me.
Is there any way to get the Blog page to display posts in the portfolio format instead of in a linear format?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Harmonic’s blog page won’t display in a grid format, no – that’s something that needs to be built into the theme directly to work well :)

I wonder if it would make sense to just put all my blog posts in as Portfolio posts, and then use Categories to separate? Does that even make sense to think about it in those terms? My blog is portfolio-ish, so mixing up blog and portfolio pages WOULD work, potentially…

You could use a structure close to what you’ve described. Portfolio projects use “Project Types” in the place of “Categories” – functionally they are the same, but the two don’t mix together :)

Although (as a colleague was just kind enough to remind me) there is a drawback to using portfolios instead of posts – things like post notifications and the WordPress.com Reader won’t pick up new portfolio items. Those only apply to blog posts!
With that in mind, you may want to look at some themes that display a blog grid like you’ve described.
