Harmonic them – Menu bar auto-hide makes page text jump about

  • Unknown's avatar

    While scrolling slowly down a page, the menu bar hides (which is OK in itself) but then when it suddenly jumps back, the text I’m reading on the page leaps up 2cm making it very difficult to read smoothly and quite irritating.

    Can this function be adjusted or turned off?

    Thank you.

  • Hi @jonnybdrury!

    Harmonic’s menu is designed to scroll off but then become available again as your visitors travel down the page.

    I’ve made a note about that jump you described for the design team to take a look at :)

    In case it’s helpful, I’m including a couple of CSS snippets that would help in the meantime – though they do require access to Custom CSS before they can be used:

    Prevent the menu from reappearing:

    #masthead.fixed {
        position: relative;
    }

    Allow the menu to reappear, but prevent that jump:

    #masthead.fixed-header+main {
    	padding-top: 61px;
    }

    Thanks for pointing this out!

    Hi @jonnybdrury!

    I just wanted to let you know, that the issue you reported with text “jumping” while scrolling in Harmonic theme has been fixed now.

    We made a slight change to the theme behaviour – the header will now be fixed to the top of the browser window from the start, which makes for a smoother experience.

    Thank you for your patience! Please let us know if we can help you with anything else.
