Harmonic theme delays very much to load

    I’ve installed Harmonic theme on my blog. I’ve really enjoy it, but… as well as nothing is perfect…

    At the first time I refresh the front page (already set up), it delayed very, very, veeeeery much to load. And it has not hapenned only with me, but with all my friends that have tried to load it. I’ve check out other browsers. The same trouble! Connection? Ok!

    Is really Harmonic a heavy theme to load, especifically on its front-page scheme? Is there some staff lookin’ at this issue?

    While the front page will always take some time to load because of the full-screen background images, one thing you can try is reducing the file size of your background image in a graphics program, as it’s currently 2.1 MB.

    @kathrynwp: But…. didn’t its creators foresee that this trouble could happen? Why a so complete theme that doesn’t load properly its features? Hadn’t they enough time to test it in any sandbox?

    A theme so beautiful, so full of features, and… so lazy to load!

    @timethief: whilst the pages will load fast in this theme, if the front page full screen images are not optimised in pixels and file size, the browser is crippled trying to reflow the content. The solution for quick loading is to optimise the images.

    The page metioned by ebraelshaddai is now using Eights theme, anyway.

    @martynjbull and @timethief: I kept this thread open anyway because it could help someone else who is in the same trouble. Till comes a final solution for that Harmonic’s sucking laziness, I’ve set up Eighties for my current needs.

    When some good soul get some tip or solution for this trouble, I shall set that theme back.

    @ebraelshaddai Harmonic will load very fast if you get the image size approximately right i.e. in pixels and low file size. I recommend image size 2048×1344 and keeping under 1MB. With these settings, I improved the load/render speed of http://www.martynjbull.net from 90 seconds to 7 seconds.
