Has anyone incorporated pdf.js or equivalent into their theme?

I’d love to be able to integrate a public domain pdf viewer into my wordpress site. I have lots of documents to publish.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, but we do support Scribd, which gives you the ability to embed PDFs into pages and posts.

I was able to get the scribd mashup to work. However, it would be most useful if:

    1) I could manage everything from one place, i.e. wordpress.com

    2) if #1 is not possible, then it google drive and its pdf reader would be more convenient for content management than scribd. Are there any supported embed codes for google drive?

    3) If #2 is not possible, then it would be useful to understand the amount of configuration I can do with scribd.

Yep, it’s possible. You can embed PDFs and other docs from Google Drive/Docs, here’s a support article but it’s a bit outdated due to changed interface of Drive/Docs.

In Google Drive, upload your PDF, double click on it, pop it out (button at top right) and then you can find the embed code.

The embed code will start with drive.google.com, change it to docs.google.com else embed won’t work here.
