Hatch Theme- can I make it 'grid' pages or portfolios, not posts?
-
I am trying to change my theme to Hatch, because I like the demo page. However, I need the grid theme on a static page displaying either pages or preferably portfolios, not posts.
I.e I want my ‘blog’ to be normal with posts, but need a static page (‘Adopt from Us’) to have photo tiles, each of which would lead to a page about that particular cat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
(P.S not tied to hatch- any theme that would do this is fine, but we didn’t like Sketch or Illustratr for little reasons like menu placement on the former and the weird red scroll-box on the latter!)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Here are other free themes that support using a Portfolio page template: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/portfolio/type/free/
Actually, you can use the Portfolio shortcode with any static page or post. See here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/

Where do I put the shortcode?
And unfortunately I’ve tried all of those themes, hence the problem. I can’t find one that fits my colleagues’ needs!

Thanks Jennifer, but where? Do I paste it into the text bit? The title? Is there a special box? I tried putting it into the text bit before and it just came out as it was written -__-
(Sorry, I’m a newbie to all things code but I’m determined to learn!)

In order to use the Portfolio shortcode, you first need to have enabled the Portfolio projects on your site and added projects. Then, you can simply insert the portfolio shortcode as per the Support document I linked to. You can type that
[portfolio]shortcode in the Text tab of the Post Editor, but I don’t believe it makes any difference if you type it in the Visual tab. (Caveat since I haven’t been able to really test this.)Here’s the first explanation about Portfolios in more detail. Start here:

Hope that helps a bit more.

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you- I had read the support files but neither of them tell you where to put the code- oversight! Thanks for clearing that up, I seem to have made it work which is GREAT! :)
