Hatch Theme – How can I make featured images bigger on the front page?
-
I’m using the Hatch theme, and I simply want to make the front page images larger or a custom size. I’m happy to edit the HTML of the images but can’t seem to find it anywhere. Do I really have to do that whole wordpress.org/bluehost routine? Just seems so complicated for resizing some thumbnails.
I just started the Custom Design thing because it says you can “make it look however you want” But how can I if the HTML isn’t available?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.COM blogs are not freestanding sites. They share a common architecture. When it comes to themes on WordPress.COM hosted blogs every blog wearing the same theme on this multiuser blogging platform is using the same underlying template. We bloggers cannot, of course, access that template and edit as all changes would universally impact every other blog wearing the same theme. CSS editing here is limited for that same reason. We cannot access and edit the underlying HTML and PHP. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

Time Theif,
Thanks for the insight, that was fast!
Okay well that’s kind of a bummer, Blogger.com is better in this regard :(, you can access the html of pre-made themes right away. Thought still has more problems than wordpress.. oh well :/. -
You’re right. WordPress.com is a multiuser blogging platform so what is easily done on a free standing blogger.com (blogsport.com) blog cannot be done easily here and sometimes can’t be done at all. You’re welcome and best wishes.
