Have existing WordPress site, which we’ve had for 10 years. It is riddled with viruses and badly in need of updating. Can I create a new site then migrate information and do away with the old broken one, without having to pay for 2 of them? Presently hosted at GoDaddy.

  Hi, sorry to hear you’ve had trouble! If you can access your dashboard, you can likely migrate the site. Since it has viruses, I’d recommend using the export / import feature that’s built into WordPress. We’ll inclue a how-to below. If you need to add plugins and themes, rather than bundling up the broken version, I’d recommend upgrading to the Business Plan here, and manually adding only the themes or plugins you need.

  You’re welcome to start with a free site. If the site is large, or if the content you’re exporting will include content from plugins / (like a store), I’d recommend upgrading first. That will give you more space and features to work with, not to mention direct support.

  I’d also recommend keeping the old site live until you’ve got everything properly transferred over. Once your site is here, we keep an eye on maintenance and security for you, so I think you’ll like our services.
