Have forgotten username and password for previous blog
-
WordPress Community,
I started a blog back in 2008 with WordPress and then stopped posting back in 2009. I am trying to pick back up the blog again, but I cannot gain access to the user name and password. The blog was set up within my company, Shopzilla.com, and we own the URL. But the person who set it up has not worked here for some time. I am at a loss for how to get into the blog and pick it back up again!
Does anyone have thoughts on who to get in touch with at WordPress? I cannot seem to find a time when the customer service team is taking phone calls!
Many thanks,
Chris -

I think it’s possible that you are posting to the wrong support forum. This support forum is only for those who have free hosted WordPress.com blogs. Our blogs cannot be monetized and that sure sounds like a monetized WordPress.org install to me. Please read this > WordPress.com vs WordPress.org: The Differences
If you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog then please read this support documentation entry > email address – unique identifier

If you post a link to the blog in question that would help us to give you accurate advice. Your options as noted above are different depending on what type of “WordPress” you have.

TimeThief and AuxClass, thank you so much for your replies! The blog is http://www.doggibling.com is all about dogs. I am a huge dog lover. The last post was back in 2009, so it has been inactive for a while, but it is time for me to get back into the swing of things again. Thank you for any additional thoughts that you can provide.
Cheers,

This is your log-in page: http://doggibling.com/wp-login.php

Looks like your registrar is: Shopzilla, Inc.
Your host seems to be: BLOGBLOGMEDIA.COM
The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.
This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/
For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Maybe the Registrar or the host can help – look at the site and see if you can guess or see the user name that you can use to generate a lost password request –
This is about all the help we can offer – since it is not hosted on WordPress.COM this is about all we can offer for help –
good luck

I am having the same problem but mine IS through WordPress.com :) It’s oliviajanedesigns.com and I have not been able to get the username or password since it was created in May! I have tried the only 2 email addresses that I can think of it being registered under with no luck. Anyway to figure out what the registered email address is so I can retrieve my password?
Thanks!

I’m sorry but we have no way of doing that.

@cbrookebrown – comment moderation is turned on for – oliviajanedesigns.com – Ileft a comment that is awaiting moderation – check your email –
Also the domain is registered through WordPress.COM so it should show up in your account – did you open a second account? Happens sometimes by accident.

I am starting up a small boutique and registered the new domain and and some new email addresses back in May and then had a baby so the project got put on hold and now I cannot remember how to access anything!! I opened this new wordpress account so that I could log in to figure out how to get into the first one lol. I really appreciate your help- obviously I am not that website savvy or I wouldn’t be in this situation haha.
-
I would be able to re-register it when it expires next year if I can’t access it any other way, correct? I really don’t want to wait that long, but as a last resort…..
-
Long time to wait – most email programs have some sort of lost password provision if you can remember where you have the account.
The email address is the master key here.
I will flag this for the staff to contact you directly, maybe they can help- tough sell without the original email (else maybe I could just fake that I was you) – but worth a try – the staff is on some all hands meeting to improve WordPress.COM but they do monitor the forums.
