Have I been duped over domain?

    Hi
    I decided to purchase a domain name and it incorporated into the site with no problem. I just posted something on Twitter but was puzzled to see the URL still contains wordpress.com
    I am now starting to suspect that if you don’t sign up for a paid plan your domain will be ignored by WordPress. Am I correct?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there,

    You are correct. To set your custom domain as the primary address for your site, an active paid plan is required. When you have a custom domain but are on the free plan, the domain will redirect visitors to your free .wordpress.com address.

    I checked your account, and it appears that you had a plan with us, but you canceled it. As a result, your site has reverted to the free plan, which is why your custom domain is not appearing as the primary address in your posts.

    To use your domain as your site’s primary address and unlock more features, you’ll need to purchase one of our plans.
