Have I just purchased a domain for no reason!?

  • Unknown's avatar

I recently signed up to wordpress.com with the intentions of blogging..

I do not like the URL lozlo.wordpress.com so I looked into buying a domain for it, so it would be called http://www.lozlo.co.uk

I have now purchased that domain and lozlo.wordpress.com is now redirecting to lozlo.co.uk .. but all I see is the site I purchased the domain from? LCN.COM

If I make lozlo.co.uk redirect to lozlo.wordpress.com I can see my blog when going on lozlo.co.uk .. but then the URL says/is redirected as lozlo.wordpress.com which goes against the whole point of me buying a domain name for my blog?

How do I make lozlo.co.uk into lozlo.wordpress.com? I am confused.. is this not possible? I can only get lozlo.co.uk redirecting as lozlo.wordpress.com = lozlo.co.uk a whole waste of money?

    Please help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I didn’t even understand half of what I was writing, it’s so hard to explain!

Here’s a better way of putting it, maybe? –

When I go to lozlo.co.uk why do I not see my lozlo.wordpress.com blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh also.. I did update the DNS/Name Server thingys to the wordpress ones on my lcn.com domain name.

  • http://lozlo.co.uk/ appears to be working properly.

It can take domain changes up to 72 hours (though usually much less) to propagate to your ISP. Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your ISP refreshes their DNS cache.

Right, ok, cool.. so does this mean that lozlo.co.uk will soon show up as a wordpress blog once everything has finished propagating?

    staff-blorbo

I see that you got your blog to be macmanx.com

Could you tell me what you did to make the url this way? Just so I know I have done everything correctly?

I pruchased a domain, changed the DNS to the wordpress1/2/3 DNS and then I purchased the mapping thing and set lozlo.co.uk as the main URL (redirect?)

Now I just have to wait for it to propagate and it will soon all become lozlo.co.uk?

Will sleep and post back here in the morning! x

It’s all done. You just have to wait. It is working for me.

  • I mapped my domain following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

More than likely, it should be just fine in the morning.

@raincoaster you see lozlo.co.uk as a wordpress blog? I see it as lcn.co.uk the domain site

staff-blorbo those guides are so unhelpful :(

My site is still not up

  • Unknown's avatar

@lazlo, it can take 24 hours and sometimes as much as 72 (rare cases) for the propagation to complete. It all depends on how often your ISP updates their nameservers.

I too see your blog at that URL, it is using under the influence.

Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then take another look. It could be a browser caching issue.

  • Unknown's avatar

What exactly am I supposed to be seeing? I still see LOZLO.CO.UK and LOZLO.WORDPRESS.COM as an LCN.COM Domain site

You are telling me you see MY BLOG with the URL as lozlo.co.uk .. you can see my blog title and it’s posts with this URL?

I don’t know what you’re seeing because even after clearing all of my cache or using a different browser lozlo.wordpress.com still comes up as lozlo.co.uk which is an LCN.COM domain page

The words propogate, DNS, ISP and updating nameservers mean nothing to me.. what’s wrong with MY ISP? Are you talking about someone elses ISP.. This is ridiculous

  • Unknown's avatar

It just looks like it’s redirecting my blog to a totally different site.. wheres my wordpress at?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Wait, I SEE IT!!!

    It’s working for me now!
