Have trouble with Plugins

  Hello, WP. I probably misunderstand WP settings policy at all. So, I want to set a plugin to automatically compress images at my blog. As it said on forums and articles, plugins’ settings should be available in my WP Admin, but there is no any of it. Why?
  How can I set the plugin to my site?
  Should I pay for this opportunity?
  Could you advise me another way to get all images on my site compressed automatically?

  Hi there. Plugins are only available on self-hosted WordPress.org sites. All the forums and articles you read are for WordPress.org. This is the WordPress.com blogging platform, and we can’t use plugins here. There is no upgrade that changes that.

  There is no way on WordPress.com to automatically compress your images. You’ll need to do that before you upload your images. I can recommend JPEGMini for that purpose.

  Thanks! Now, I am going to buy my own domain and set it to my already existed site (audreybloom.wordpress.com), this is what I should yes, to open WP.org opportunities for myself? Or should I log in WP.org and start my blog from the beginning, forgetting about wp.com forever?

  No, merely buying your own domain won’t give you access to plugins, as you’ll still be hosted on WordPress.com. As I said, no upgrade changes this, including a custom domain.

  Logging in to WordPress.org won’t help you either, as it’s just a central hub for the WordPress.org community, not a hosting platform like WordPress.com.

  To set up a self-hosted site you need your own domain as well as a hosting account somewhere else. Then you need to download and install the WordPress.org software to that domain (some web hosts do this for you).

  You don’t need an account on the WordPress.org site to use the software, but you will need one to post in their forums.

  The WordPress.org website lists several hosting providers that support the WordPress.org software: https://wordpress.org/hosting/
