Having a problem with editing the text from the footer
-
It seems I cannot change some text I entered into a footer a long time ago. I’ve been looking for a long time, and I cannot find the option to change it.
It’s a custom text where I explain how to get in contact with me, nothing that I’m bound to keep as part of the wordpress’s policy.

I wonder if you’re aware that the word “Contact” in your footer content is linked to the Gazette theme demo. You may remove or change the link URL if you like.

Hi, Co-incidentally I am too trying to edit the footer and stumbled on your post and solution here. However it doesn’t quite seem to be sorting my issue out.
When I look at Customize > Theme Options I don’t have a “footer” to choose. The only way I can edit the footer seems to be via the Widgets > Footer 1 option. BUT that only lets me add widgets. I am trying to get an “image block” in there so that I can have a number of images presented in a row with links associated to each to other web sites.
Is there a way to achieve this do you know please? … I have tried using separate image widgets and they allow links but list vertically. A Gallery widget lists horizontally but does not allow links to another web site.
Any tips appreciated!
Many thanks

You’re welcome. : -)

Hi, Mike. The footer content option at Theme Options is a feature present when using the Gazette theme. It may not be present on the theme that you’re using. What’s the address of your site, and which theme is applied to it?

Hi, Thanks for getting back!
The URL is https://newmiltonrifleclub.org/
And the theme is Twenty Seventeen.
I wonder… could I change the theme to “Gazette”, make a change to the footer and then change the theme back to Twenty Seventeen?
OR …maybe there’s a more versatile version of this theme now?
Many thanks,

Mike,
BUT that only lets me add widgets. I am trying to get an “image block” in there so that I can have a number of images presented in a row with links associated to each to other web sites.
I don’t know if any type of block can be added to a widget, if that’s what you mean. However, this is off-topic. Please start a new topic, here if you want to pursue this support request: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1.

There is only one version of each theme available for WordPress.com sites.

Hi MusicDoc1.
Thanks.
Ref: “I don’t know if any type of block can be added to a widget, if that’s what you mean. ”
No, its not what I meant. I probably didn’t phrase it very well. I want to add an Image Block to a footer but cannot find a means to do so.
I will start a new thread as you suggest.

Mike,
Sorry, I momentarily confused the footer content option on the Gazette theme with a widget in a footer widget area. On most WordPress.com themes that I’ve worked with, adding content to the footer isn’t possible on the free plan. If possible on themes that don’t have this feature, then adding any content to the footer area would require either the Premium or the Business plan, and CSS customization.
Thanks for starting a new topic. I’ll respond there.
