you are trying to make your WordPress hosted account to use your domain purchased through GoDaddy correct?
this requires 2 separate stages to connect. 1 for the WordPress side of things, and another for your domain providers side. I have never used GoDaddy so I don’t know the explicit steps for them but I can share a link that may help.

but having a custom domain mapped or otherwise first requires you to have a premium or business account.
