Having more than one post on the home page

Not sure if this is going to make sense but I have set my site to have a static home page and I have sidebar widget that has a feed of my recent posts. My static home page “page” that I have typed in just serves as a welcome to my site visitors and just has a few sentences welcoming them to my blog. I wanted to use this ” home page” as a way to post updates or announcements if you will with a feed of them going down the home page without interrupting the recent posts section in the sidebar. How do I allow my home page to have multiple posts? Or am I just going to have to set it to latest posts and post announcements as blog posts?

There is one “set” of blog posts. All posts are included in the default “blog”. However using categories for your posts wil allow you to accomplish what you want.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/view-all/To accomplish your Static Home Page goal which as I understand it will be some “static” introductory text followed by post titles (or titles and excerpts or full posts?) that would belong to a category for your “announcements”.
Write your introductory text
In the “paragraph following your text, use the Display Posts shortcode to display the posts in the “Announcements” category in the format that you prefer. For a title listing:

For full content:
[display-posts category="Announcments" include_content="true"]Create a text widget for the sidebar listing posts in the Announcements category – use the Display Posts shortcode in the text widget and choose the title only format.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/Now to handle your other blog posts. You will use categories to manage them through linking your menu to ” category pages”. A compilation of all posts in each category happens automatically and your menu will just link to whichever categories you choose to feature in your menu.

https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/You will still have a blog feed with all your posts including your announcements but you can decide whether you want a menu item for the full feed or you might choose to have a category name (and menu item) that encompasses all the posts except for the announcements posts.
Note your recent posts widget will include your announcement posts. If you want something like the recent posts menu but excluding the announcements category all you need to do is create a 2nd text widget using the display posts shortcode just like you did for the announcements category.
This is just one way you might achieve your goals. Others might have better ideas…
