  why will only one poll appear on my blog

  Hi! Did you follow the instructions on the Support documentation? It explains how to create a new poll and insert it into a post, page or widget:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/polls/

  Just to reassure you: yes you can have more than one poll on your blog (I know because I do). Good luck!
