Having problems with M-shots

I have previously used “snap windows” which were handy for linking to Wikipedia for glossary definitions.
I see it has been replaced by M-shots.
problem 1. although it shows windows to other web sites, the links to wiki do not load in the m shot window
problem 2. I clicked on “turn off”… even after deleting my cookies, I cannot turn them back on when viewing my blog.
Any help resolving these?

I’m not sure if this is a WP.com problem or an M-shot problem; which side made the change? Have you looked in M-Shots support?

I’m not sure what M-shots are. Heather make a remark in the last WP.com blog about SnapShots being replaced by an in-house service.

I believe if you log in you’ll see a preview of M-shots. It’s still in soft launch mode, meaning we haven’t announced it yet and you might see it change or disappear once or twice before then.

Hi, came across mShots this morning. It worked for me to turn them on and off via Appearance > Extras check box in my theme.

Hi.
I accidentally switched off my snapshots early this morning by clicking on the actual snapshot window itself.
I did this because the snapshot windows had all gone completely black, with no preview of the website links visible at all. I also noticed that the wordpress logo was displayed on each of the windows.
During all of this time, I checked in ‘Appearance/Extras’ to see if my snapshots were still switched on – and they were but mshots had taken the place of snaphots (I was ignorant of any changes which were to be made to this feature).
Will I eventually be able to get back snapshots/mshots automatically or have I lost them forever?

I have the same problem; the M-shots do not work with Wikipedia (error 404). I understand WP is in a period of proofing this new system. I disabled M-shots. Please make an announce when the beta-test is over.

My blogs incorporated Snapshot previews extensively and now are quite broken and nothing I can do, don’t really want to turn off but numbers of previews that used to work are now 404 and some have “wrong captures” (although link is ok) but that does not help the readers…
No notice, no recourse?
Any idea of fix or (better fallback)? how about the user gets to choose (which system) until the new system is really debugged?

Guys, the new previews (M-shots?) doesn’t work. In particular I used snapshots to provide a convenient audio player for mp3 links of sermons. It’s been taken away. What was wrong with it? Please re-instate snapshots ASAP and don’t change unless you can guarantee all functionality is replaced.

I’ve just turned M-shots off after it was showing a semi pornographic photo instead of my expected link! I’ve contacted support and am waiting to hear back from them.

I just deleted all my cookies. When I went back to my site (and wasn’t logged in) it was back to good ole snapshots (which helpfully show what people have actually most recently written in a legible size of font). When I logged in again I got the sleazy picture back.

I’ve also now tried deleting the link and reinstalling it, but it still gives me the dodgy photo. It’s only with the one link but it is bugging me!

Thanks everyone for your comments about the disappearing snapshots. They have helped me feel happier about losing my lovely snapshots – for the time being, anyway! I too noticed that when logged out the snapshots worked but when logged in they disappeared again. As long as readers can see them then losing the snapshots is fine by me.

I too get the Error 404 screen shot on my blog, but not on other people’s WP blogs. And only when I’m logged in. If I log out, then the link previews on my own blog work fine.

I’m pleased to report that my rude picture has disappeared from my mshots view. Wish I could see the snapshots version when I’m logged in though.

The replacement for Snapshots is not working. It will not load previews. No notice of this change. No recourse.
Will something be done? Bring back Snapshots? Get the M-shots to work?
Some official response would be helpful. Is there such a response somewhere and I missed it?

For me the snapshots work in Opera but not in Firefox. But nothing else works in Opera (log in, dashboard, etc.)

I have not being able to see a snapshot or m shot window since I posted this, despite clearing cookies and FireFox3 data.
However in occasionally in my statistics Snapshot shows up. -
I just came across a very odd thing. I was navigating my site and the mShot that came up was NOT correct. It had some very odd picture, that looked somewhat pornographic in nature. I quickly disabled mSHOTs. Did someone hack it?
