Widgets have visibility settings https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility that indicate exactly which pages they are to display on.
Every theme has a detailed theme description page is at https://wordpress.com/themes/button/ and that’s where set up instructions for it are found. The live demo site is at https://buttondemo.wordpress.com/
You must be logged in under the exact same username that registered the site to be able to access the site. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Replace NAME_OF_BLOG in that URL with the actual name of your blog.

Hi Holly!
It’s possible your screen isn’t currently wide enough to display the widgets in their own column like you see in the demo. The Customizer menu takes up a bit of space on the left, so there may not be enough room for two columns in the preview. Your sites visitors won’t have that menu, so (as long as you have a wide enough screen) they’ll see two columns.
Try this:
Open the Customizer and add a widget. If it appears down at the bottom, instead of the side, look in the lower left corner for the “Collapse” link. That hides the left hand menu. When you click that, the widget will likely move to the side as you expected.
Provided that does the trick, you can click the arrow in the bottom left to expand the menu again.
Add your widgets (you’ll see them at the bottom, but that’s okay!) then Save and Publish. Everything will appear in the correct spot when you close the Customizer, depending on the screen size you’re working with :)
