Having some issues with accessing a recently setup domain

  • Unknown's avatar

Access a domain that I set up, and have the emails and contact form responses flow to a particular account. Somehow, the emails and contact form locations are linked to a different email account for a different blog which I also manage.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Access a domain that I set up

    Which one?

    We need details please.
    1. What is the domain URL?
    2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?
    3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
    4. When was the upgrade purchased?

WordPress.com does not provide an email service for blogs on their sub domains or on custom domains. Please see these support docs

I think that I am in the ballpark for a solution with the pages here:

    https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2012/08/14/separate-username-accounts-separate-blogs/

BETTER BLOGGING, BLOGGING TIPS, WORDPRESS.COM TIPS
Separate Username Accounts – Separate Blogs
Bloggers are interesting people with a variety of wide ranging passions. Many have multiple blogs they do not want to be associated and they may not choose to publish under their actual name in any or all of them. That’s where blogging under a nickname or a pseudonym comes in.

A nickname is a name someone is known by in addition to their real name. A blogger who blogs under their real name on a company business site, may want to be more casual in their personal blog and publish under a nickname. A pseudonym is a name that is used in place of someone’s real name. A blogger acting as a citizen journalist in a dangerous sitation where his or her safety may be at risk may choose to publish under a pseudonym.

    Registering An Additonal Username

If you have would like to have an additional WordPress.com username account, be aware that when we register a WordPress.com username account the email address we provide becomes our unique identifier when we are logged into WordPress.com. Perforce, that means the email addresses for each username account must be different.

We can register as many blogs as we wish and provided we are logged in under the same username account, all blogs will be registered under it and the associated email account. While it’s true that we can change our “display name” or “nickname”, that name will appear on all blogs registered under the same username account, and we can only link our username to a single “primary blog”.

If you plan from the outset to have blogs that you do not want to be associated, you must be logged out of wordpress.com when you register an additional username account with a different email address. Then you can log in under each username account and register blogs separately under each username so they aren’t associated.

Transferring a Blog to Another Username Account

If you have a single username account and have registered two (or more) blogs that you do not want to be associated with each other any longer,

    log out of wordpress.com and register another username account using a different email address;
    invite the new username account to become a new Administrator of the blog you want to transfer;
transfer one (or more) of the blogs to the new username account.

    still having this problem.

where I left it with Google was asking WordPress to deal with the CNAME record and point it to google for me.

then, we still need to regain access to edit the blog.

  • Hi there,

The domain 1010ben.com is registered with and mapped to us, but you are not the owner of that domain. You need to be logged in as the username that owns it, badgerbaltimore, to make any changes to the domain. I also cannot make any changes unless the owner requests it, so please log in as that username and post here explaining exactly what you want to do.

“point the CNAME record to Google” is meaningless. Exactly what CNAME record do you need to add?

Okay, I am logged in as badgerbaltimore, which I own, since I set it up and hold a position within Badger Contracting and what I want to do is be able to change the log in for 1010ben.com, so that

    a) there is a separate log in for badgerbaltimore.wordpress.com
    and
    b) a separate log in for 1010ben.com which was purchased and set up on wordpress
    and
    c) separate emails for both.

Essentially, what I am running into is issues of posting on the 1010ben.com site and those posts and likes and reposts and shares are appearing as BadgerBaltimore.

When I log in to do BadgerBaltimore blog work, I want to have things set up through Badger.

When I log in to do 1010Ben.com blog work, I want to have things set up through 1010Ben.

Additionally, the domain registration is through a third party domain by proxy company. When I called them, they told me that any changes to the domain had to be done through wordpress.

But, I am not able to make those changes to the domain.

The CNAME record that needed to be set up so that GSuite was activated for the site 1010ben.com.

Okay. So at the moment, badgerbaltimore.wordpress.com and 1010ben.com both belong to the username, badgerbaltimore. What you’re saying is you want 1010ben.com to belong to a different username, correct?

What username do you want to use with 1010ben.com? muleesq, or something else?

You can transfer a site to a different username yourself, but you will first need to create the new username if you don’t own it yet. To do that, log out, go to WordPress.com, and create a new account. Then log back in as badgerbaltimore and transfer the site from this page:

When I log in to do 1010Ben.com blog work, I want to have things set up through 1010Ben

The username 1010ben already exists on WordPress.com. If you own it, you can transfer the site to that username using the instructions I gave above. If you don’t own it, you won’t be able to use that username and will need to get a different one.

    —————————————————————————

Additionally, the domain registration is through a third party domain by proxy company.

1010ben.com is registered with us. Domains by Proxy is the company we use for the private registration on your domain.

The CNAME record that needed to be set up so that GSuite was activated for the site 1010ben.com.

You bought G Suite directly from us and it is already set up correctly on your domain. That email should be working already. Exactly what CNAME record does Google want you to add? I cannot check or add the record if I don’t know what it should be.

    —————————————————————————

    c) separate emails for both.

If you want badgerbaltimore.wordpress.com to have its own email address, you will also need to add a domain to that site. A custom or a mapped domain is a requirement if you want to connect an email address to a specific domain.
