Having to pay to upload a ZIP Theme???

Really I just got to WordPress to get and make a simple web landing page, I checked online free themes, and then I decided to make the website and pay also for a domain option , the site explained I could customize like I wanted and I just had to pay the subscription , then when I go to themes I wanted to apply a free theme, like I always coudl in other old websites I did and I see that I cannot upload unless I pay 300 euros for a businness plan ??? WT… Seriuously ? If this was ublicized before payment I would have never subscribed or paid so now I do have a useless account where I cannot load a theme , cosue in no way I am going to pay 300 euros to simply upload a free theme! Who decided this businness practice in my opinion is an absolute incompetent! I will never use a wordpress site again and I will now ask for a refund unless I am pointed to a way to upload and use my free themes without having to pay a subscription plan Which Ialready did. Most other website builders do it alo all for free, providing everything from themes to hosting !

Due to security reasons, as you are on a shared platform, the use of third party themes and plugins requires a completely different serverconfiguration. So this has nothing to do with ‘being incompetent’ …
When you take a look our paid plans – https://wordpress.com/pricing/ – all features and limitations are very clearly indicated.
It was never possible to use third party themes and plugins on the wordpress.com platform. I would say you are confusing with selfhosted sites that are using the open source wordpress.org – https://wordpress.org/

As for a shared site it could allow to selfinstall themes offered for free by wordpress.com directly from the in app build selection so there wouln’t be “security” reason to ask 300 euros to modify the theme.
And no this was not specified when selecting the hosting .PBut if people are happy with that policy good for them, please delete this thread after reading.

This is what’s written when I selected this plan , it clearly says Temi premium which implies I coul duse premium themes, it says nowhere to have to pay 300 Euros to apply them. -
The Premium themes are those in the wordpress.com theme repository. Third party themes aren’t premium themes …
