The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Howdy!

Congrats on your new blog! I’m happy to help you sort out these questions.

Our Learning Guide has a bunch of great information, I highly suggest giving that a read.

I see that you have your first post published here. titled “Warning: netball geeks only.”

When visitors come to your blog, they are going to see your posts on the first page as they arrive. I see that you have a Blog tab in your menu. If you’d rather, you can set it up so that your posts all go to the Blog tab and then your visitors would land on the same Welcome page each time they come. This is totally up to you. I’ll be happy to help you configure things whichever is best for you.

You’ve also successfully connected your blog to your Facebook profile via our sharing tool.

Continuing to share your posts this to your Facebook profile will help your friends and family learn about your new blog :) You can also invite followers.

Do you remember which link you sent them? Can you share it here with me?

Visitors should be able to view your site, there are no privacy settings enabled to discourage this. Try sending this link: https://whydonzbeatusatnetball.wordpress.com/

Folks do not need a WordPress.com account to view your blog. If you add The Follow Blog Widget, people without a WordPress.com account would be able to follow your blog via their email. Folks with a WordPress.com account will click the ‘Follow…’ button in the bottom right corner of their screen when viewing your blog. Then, whenever you publish a new post, it will show up in their Reader.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, and take care!

I’ve completed all the stuff you suggested and have tidied up my blog a bit. A couple more questions if you have time! ;)
I’ve added some widgets on the side bar but they only appear if you click on the right hand menu at the top. Is there a way to get them to appear on the side of the blog post? Or do I have to put them as a footer?

Also, if I want to add the blog as part of an email signature, what would I write down so that someone could click onto it? Thank you!

  • Each theme has dedicated widget space(s). In your situation you can add widgets to your sidebar and 3 different footers. Go here to see which widget is where. You can easily remove/add until you have them configured the way you want.

It looks like you’ve already figured that bit out. This theme in particular treats the sidebar as a little menu icon in the upper right corner. I see that you’ve now added your widgets to the footers.

You can create a hyperlink text with your blog url (https://whydonzbeatusatnetball.wordpress.com/). The instructions will vary depending on your email provider but if you google “how to create a link with …… email service” you should find the instructions.

I’ll be here for follow up questions!
