Having trouble adding followers to "Blogs I Follow"

When I notice that I get a new follower or two I’ll visit them and then try to add them to “Blogs I Follow”. For WordPress.com followers, it seems like you should be able to do this by toggling the “+follow” button on the “My Followers” page of Site Stats. This doesn’t work. It will change to “following” if you toggle a “+follow”, but the change doesn’t hold when updated and that follower is not added to the Blogs I Follow list on the Reader page. Instead, I find that I have to add them manually. Is that how it’s supposed to be?

It happened to me few times on several blogs. Clicking the FOLLOW link does not actually add them. I think that’s a bug.
