Having trouble adding the Odeo feature to my sidebar.
-
I keep trying to get help from people on the message boards but no one is giving me a thorough answer with details on how to do it and it’s really frustrating. I was successful getting the Odeo code to work when I tested it on a blog entry, but I can’t get it to work on my sidebar. I don’t know where exactly to put the code on my sidebar either; I tried putting the code in the text/html box but it didn’t work. It came out as coding when I viewed my page. Please, someone give me a thorough answer on how to get this to work!!!!!!!!!
[odeo http://odeo.com/audio/24037795/view%5D <—– That’s the code I’m using
Thanks.

sharonbell,
If someone knows the answer, they will provide it. Volunteers know how to look for older questions.
I don’t think you can use shortcode in text widgets on the sidebar but I don’t know. So my answer is of no use to you.
Sorry. -

Okay thanks. So then how would I go about adding Odeo? Do I need an upgrade to add music in general?
-
No: you only need the space upgrade if you want to upload mp3s in your blog’s media library. You can very well upload them in a free hosting site instead – provided it’s a host that gives direct URLs (e.g. Fileden or Getdropbox). Then you use the URLs with the wp audio player shortcode (see the FAQ on music). The only shortcoming is that the audio player works in a post or a page but not in the sidebar.

Awww man. So that means there’s no hope for me adding any music to my sidebar other than the box.net widget?
