Having trouble restoring email address to main account

I am assisting setting up my clients website. My client initial setup the WordPress.com site with his email address and gave me access. I needed to check that the forms worked so I changed the email address associated with the account to one of mine. I am now having trouble revering the email address/account to him.

I have now created a separate user account for ‘support’, and have tried to revert the email address to his on the main account, but he’s telling me that he is not receiving the verification emails. I then tried setting up a new administer account for him, but again he’s saying that he’s not receiving the verification emails.

I don’t know if he is actually not receiving them, or just missing them, or if the system is having trouble because it’s ‘blocked’ on a particular email address (database not allowing for some reason because it’s already registered)

Please can you advise how I can restore/reset/redo the original/primary account to my clients email address.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

The email address previously associated with the account should have become free when you changed the email address. See the Issues Changing your Email Address section of the Update Email Address. Is it still free?

It seems like you understand the process, and that you’ve taken the right steps, for the most part. However,

I then tried setting up a new administer account for him, but again he’s saying that he’s not receiving the verification emails.

only the site owner would receive the notification of the changed email address. So in order for the site owner to receive the notification at an email address associated with a new account, the site would have had to be transferred to the new account first. Did you transfer the account?

I’m going to tag the topic for staff attention, because it will be easier for staff to sort it out.

I’m not suggesting that you transfer the account, just explaining how the new administrator account attempt might have been a bit more complicated than you thought.

Thanks for your response and I’m sure you’re correct WRT to something going wrong when I changed the main account email address.

Hopefully WordPress.com staff come to the rescue soon.

  • Hi there,

What is the email of your client? I will check and see if the email is associated with any other account.

I will be the only person able to see the email – it will be redacted for everyone else.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff).

The birhancollege.org WordPress.com site is on the premium plan, but we don’t seem to be able to access premium support (chat and email). Please can you try to fix this so that we can have premium support again.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Do you have access to the username/account that owns the site? It is not the account that you are contacting us from nor is it associated with your client’s email. I checked and your client’s email is not associated with any account, so you should be able to attach it to another account.

If you logged into the account associated with the upgrades, you’ll be able to access live chat support.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

I’ve managed to log into the account and fix the issue. Thanks.
