Having trouble uploading photos

Thanks, I have already tried this and the information back is that there isn’t a problem. The error occurs with XP and Windows 7 and only applies to WordPress and no other site. I found that if I keep trying to upload the image several times it may work once and other times I can upload seval without any problem

savantmuse, if you’re uploading a 1 GB photo over dialup, I’m going to have to say that is definitely your connection giving out. Try a much smaller image size, something under 10 MB.
meltingmnm, would you please try uploading a photo under 10 MB too?
summertime75, which browser (and version of) are you using when you run into this?

macmanx: True that dial-up can fuss with uploads, but this is new. I did upload an avatar and it had no problem. I definitely had images under 1GB as that is the limit, but even half that isn’t working. I’ll try the under 10MB tonight.
My sinking feeling is that this is due to the Firefox upgrade which has become allergic to dial-up; but others seem to have the same problem and it isn’t due to FF. I’m also using Vista.
Thanks everyone who’s trying to help us out. Will keep trying to work this out. Hope I don’t have to try another blog. :(

Oh, and the upload wouldn’t accept a URL link either; it presented a big X and greyed out the Upload button. Spooky.

OK, just tried loading a 2.4MB image, same results. The time span is just under 10 seconds from ‘upload’ to ‘reset’ error message. Added to that, the site asks you to ‘confirm’ before each retry. Unhappy.

We’ve never gotten close to 10MB. We’re usually closer to 2-3MB. We shrunk our last one we’ve been trying lately to about 500KB. That only made the percentage it showed uploading increase at a higher rate and get to eternal crunching status more quickly.

Would you folks mind trying a different browser, like Chrome if you’re using Firefox?

Sorry, haven’t been able to try b/c we haven’t had power. We tried IE 9 to no avail. Google Chrome not really an option for us.

Try updating your Windows. A couple of bloggers reported big problems that went away when they updated Windows.

I can’t upload photos. HTTP error! Waaahhhh Freaking out! It’s been 5 days already and nothing happened!!

Will you please provide some specifics for us?
(1) How you are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.(2) Are you using the http:// login or are you using the https:// login

(4) Have you tried using another browser?

Thanks for much for following through. I believe your issue is a Chrome issue. Will you try some more troubleshooting more information please so Staff have it when they enter this thread?

Mea culpa, I think; I posted an update but apparently there’s another thread with same topic and I’m confused. OK, re-tread:
I finally got my post to take a picture, but on revisits the pic is only a box, sometimes. If I right click and reload the image it will show, otherwise it’s a box.
Today having the same crunching/reset server issues. However, when I post on another blog, I can load an image with little hassle. So why is it that posting on my own blog has generated the image lag and home/admin page discombobulation? I am really frustrated that when I finally try to do my own blog it’s less than the happy experience I found when working on another’s blog. On this computer, as well.
Checked to make sure all browsers are current, although not sure how Yahoo! works with updates.
@timethief: I’ve tried all your suggestions accept for enabling third party cookies. I’m not ready to give up yet but when I see that ‘crunching’ it almost makes me cry. I don’t know if it’s allowed to reboot the site, but that would be an option I’d like.
