Having trouble with Bold Life theme (too old?)

  Suddenly I can’t create hyperlinks – the box shows up until I write the url – then disappears b4 I can select “open in new tab”. If I create another hyperlink on the page the first one disappears – very weird. My older posts that were created earlier don’t do this. Is the theme too old? What is a good replacement? I like the simple scroll down blog with a sidebar.
  That’s another thing , I can’t create widgets – even facebook widget not working.
  Do I need a new theme?
