Having trouble with unlocking and transferring domain from FreeHosting

    FreeHosting is rubbish! I had problems and two request tickets are still unanswered after nearly a year. I just want to get away from them.
    Today I found the EPP, I unlocked the domain… and it seems I still can’t escape FreeHosting! Their page still indicates the domain is still locked – I have tried many times to unlock the domain. I don’t want to trash or abandon my domain, I just want to transfer it back to WordPress!! What can I do to solve my problem? Regards, Sarah

    Thanks for your reply… yes, as you say, only Freehosting Support can help, except their Support has not answered my two ticketed questions (still open and awaiting a reply) regarding this matter in over a year now. But meanwhile, they are very good at billing you regardless. Very frustrating situation.

    Hi there!

    I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with getting your domain unlocked. Unfortunately, we are unable to do anything, as the domain must be unlocked at your current registrar’s end, and only they can help you with this further. Perhaps you can try contacting them in other ways if they are unresponsive via email?

    Thanks for your reply…yes, you would think there were other methods of contact but Freehosting’s ticketing system is the only way to contact them. I checked this thoroughly. I think their actions are calculated, as they are currently trying to bill me for the upcoming year in three days time. I won’t be paying this. I think my only option will be to cancel my account (if they let me!). This means my .com address will disappear. A huge disappointment for me in so many ways.

  • Sorry that you are having trouble reaching out to your host. I did try to find a number for them and also looked to see if they had an online presence – and it was a no for both.

    Hi, I think this will be my last post regarding my domain airmidsherbals.com, currently held hostage at FreeHosting.com

    I cannot in any way facilitate transfer. WordPress has the Epp Code (and today I can’t even find that on FreeHosting’s site!!), and they can’t import my domain. So looks like I will have to let it lapse. WordPress will need to refund me the transfer cost, but I really tried my best to make this work. Anyway, I still have a free site with WordPress so that will have to do at the moment.

    Thank you for the update, and sorry to hear that they still have not engaged in any way. While it may not help with this specific issue, you may consider filing a complaint with ICANN against your Registrar for this excessive lack of user support and inability to transfer your domain.

    You can cancel your domain transfer by visiting Upgrades > Domains > [your domain] and then choosing Cancel. Since the domain was not successfully transferred, a full refund will be automatically issued.

    Thank you. My refund has been received. I am entirely satisfied with WordPress and I appreciate your support. I am considering creating a new domain in the future… and WordPress will be my one and only hosting site!
